Give it a Whirl at Art In The Pearl

The 13th annual Art In The Pearl Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will be held this Saturday, September 5th (10-6), Sunday, September 6th (10-6) and Monday, September 7th (10-5), Labor Day Weekend.

Portland's annual arts festival fills Portland's Northwest Park blocks with art, theater, world music, food, and hands-on activities for people of all ages. Over one hundred artists show and sell work ranging from fine wooden furniture to beautiful paintings to photography, glass, ceramics, printmaking, metal, jewelry, and much more!

Art In The Pearl not only benefits the community by bringing us art, music and performance, but by helping out local groups like Sisters; part of the proceeds go to Sisters Of The Road!

Art In The Pearl is located in the Northwest Park blocks, between W Burnside and NW Glisan at NW 8th Ave in Portland For more information, visit www.artinthepearl.com.

Attention Federal Employees: The Pacific Northwest Combined Federal Campaign begins this Fall!

The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) allows federal employees to choose from an extensive list of charities that have applied to the campaign and been screened by groups of federal volunteers.
Federal employees or contractors on payroll can contribute via payroll deduction, cash or check.

The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of federal employees in the federal workplace on behalf of charitable organizations. It continues to be the largest and most successful workplace fundraising model in the world.

In 2008 the Pacfic Northwest CFC raised over $1.78 million for local, national and international charities by soliciting 25,163 federal employees in over 600 federal offices for a total of 6,631 donors. Sisters Of The Road received $7,132.12 in fiscal year 2008-2009 from our incredible supporters through the CFC. The 2008 projected overhead rate is approximately 6.5%. Over $.93 of every dollar contributed goes directly to member nonprofits like Sisters!

Again this year, Sisters Of The Road is an organization you can support through the CFC. Payroll deductions are a convenient way to show your support for Sisters' good work. Participate in the CFC and give our organization's "charity code," 14791, when completing the appropriate form from your office of employment.

For more information on the Pacific Northwest Combined Federal Campaign, please visit www.yourcfc.org. Thank you for your continuing support of Sisters Of The Road!

Results Are In: Sisters is a Choice Place to Work

Oregon Business magazine sent notification that Sisters Of The Road made the 2009 list of the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon. The rankings were based on the confidential input of employees who answered 60 questions about workplace satisfaction questions such as benefits, management, trust, work environment and development.

Oregon Business has been releasing the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon rankings annually since 1995, but this is the first year the magazine has held a separate competition just for nonprofits.

The rankings will be announced at a celebration on September 29 at the Portland Art Museum. Stay tuned to Sisters' website, or see the October issue of Oregon Business to find out where Sisters ranks on this prestigious list!
