Matching Grant Still On!

Sisters Image

It’s not over ‘til the zaftig goddess sings.  Until December 31 you can have your donations matched 50 cents on the dollar!  And if you’re a new donor you’ll be matched an additional 1:1 thanks to the Collins Foundation - so for every dollar you donate, we’ll receive $2.50!

Our office at 618 NW Davis st. will be uncharacteristically open on Saturday and Sunday, December 30 and 31 to recieve your generous donations.  We are at 80% of our goal now; with your help, we’re sure to meet it over the next two weeks.

They money we make over November and December supports our work all year.  Thank-you so much for your touching love and belief in us, and all of your creativity and passion for helping others!

And the Raffle, on Sale Now .. .

Guitar Raffle tickets are on sale now for $10, both at Sisters’ office at 618 NW Davis, and lovely Artichoke Music at 3130-A S.E. Hawthorne Boulevard!  The raffle is as important a fundraiser for Sisters as Winterfolk itself, and we thank Artichoke for their wonderful participation in the raffle this year. The guitar is a brand new L-00V Woody Guthrie-style guitar hand-crafted by John Greven. To learn more about this beautiful guitar, Click here to learn more. You can also see this beauty at John Greven’s website. Thank-you John and Artichoke Music!

Customer Appreciation Day
Sisters Image

Today, December 15, is Customer Appreciation Day at Sisters!  Did you know that Customer Appreciation Day is the only free meal day we serve?  One day out of the year, we show our customers how much we appreciate them by serving an extra-delicious, free meal, served to them with volunteer help instead of asking them to barter-work.

The rest of the year, people must pay for a meal with $1.25, meal coupons, 15 minutes of barter work, or food stamps; except if they cannot pay and are too disabled to work or cannot work due to child-care responsibilities.  Even then, most of those meals are paid for through the barter work of other customers who donate their time for those less fortunate even than they.  Aren’t our customers amazing and truly worthy of appreciation?
