Dine with Dignity in August

The following restaurants have chosen a time in August to generously donate a portion of their proceeds to Sisters.  Sisters is asking people to help raise $10,000 for families and individuals in need by spreaing the word and patronizing the following establishments on these days:

  • Backspace. 115 NW 5th Ave., Portland. Friday, August 3. 7am – 2 am. 100% of all hourly computer usage will benefit Sisters.  (503) 248-2900.  www.backspace.bz.

  • McMenamin’s Kennedy School. 5736 N.E. 33rd Ave., between Killingsworth and Ainsworth, Portland.  Wednesday, August 6.  5:00 pm to 11 pm. 50% of all food sales that evening in the Courtyard Restaurant will benefit Sisters. (503) 249-3983. www.mcmenamins.com

  • Escape from New York Pizza. 622 NW 23rd Ave., Portland. Wednesday, August 8.  11:30 am to 11 pm. 10% of the day’s proceeds will benefit Sisters. (503) 227-5423.

  • Old Town Pizza. 226 NW Davis St, Portland. Monday, August 27. 11:30am - 11pm. 20% of all food sales that evening benefit Sisters.  (503) 222-9999.  www.oldtownpizza.com.

  • Tin Shed. 1438 NE Alberta St, Portland.  Last Thursday, August 30, time TBA.  Music and food - all donations at the door will benefit Sisters, bands TBA. (503) 288-6966. www.tinshedgardencafe.com.

There is still time for restaurants to participate in Dining with Dignity: contact Monica at (503) 222-5694 ext. 19 or email her at Monica at sistersoftheroad dot org.  Sisters will promote these events to thousands of their supporters, as well as in the general community.  If just 20 restaurants raise $500 each, Sisters will achieve its goal of raising $10,000!

Pardners, join us Saturday, October 13 4:30- 9:30 pm at the Portland Art Museum’s Kridel Ballroom for our biggest fundraiser of the year!

Tickets are $85 for individuals and tables of 10 are $850 with a limited number of patron tables available.

PC Grand Opening

Please join us for the Grand Opening of the Personalist Center Thursday, September 6th.  We will have a Block Party on NW Davis Street between Sixth St. and Broadway, with a barbecue and great live music!

The event runs from 4pm to 7pm; at 5pm there will be a presentation, followed by music performances from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.  And of course, we’ll be showing off the new Personalist Center, which now opens onto NW Davis Street.  It’s gorgeous; come see what all the fuss is about!

Art In The Pearl this Labor Day!

Art in the Pearl, Portland’s annual arts festival is celebrating its tenth year this Labor Day weekend Saturday, Sunday and Monday, September first through the third.

Part of the proceeds go to Sisters Of The Road.

This festival fills the Northwest Portland Park blocks between W Burnside and NW Glisan at NW 8th Ave. with art, theater, world music, food, and hands-on activities for people of all ages. Over one hundred artists show and sell work ranging from fine wooden furniture to beautiful paintings to photography, glass, clay, metal, jewelry, and much more!

Art in the Pearl will be held in Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm, 10am to 5pm on Monday.  For more information or to get involved, call (503) 722-9017 or check: www.artinthepearl.com.
