Raffle $10 - Win a Concert Guitar worth $2,200 and Studio Time
image

The annual Winterfolk guitar raffle is also a great ‘fun-raiser’ for Sisters.  The winning ticket will be drawn at Winterfolk around 9:30pm; winner need not be present to win, but it’s a lot of fun if you are!

Get tickets at our office at 618 NW Davis; at Artichoke Music at 3130 S.E. Hawthorne Boulevard; or at Portland Fret Works, 3039 NE Alberta St.

The guitar is a beauty. Todd Mylet of Portland Fret Works has hand-crafted a new steel string acoustic Mylet Concert Model guitar.  With a retail value of $2,200, the guitar is made of Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood with Ebony appointments.  Its ebony fingerboard is inlaid with an oroboris (snake eating its tail) and it comes with a hard-shell case. Todd builds just one or two guitars a year; we’re very grateful for his support!

Bonus
In addition to the guitar, raffle participants win one day (10 hours) of recording time at Billy Oskay’s Big Red Studio, valued at $750!

Thank you Billy Oskay, Todd Mylet, Artichoke Music and Portland Fret Works, and to all of you who support the raffle.

More about the Amazing Peter Yarrow

Peter’s name is one of the most recognizable in folk music.  In his solo concerts and his work as principal arranger and mainstay of the platinum-album selling group ‘Peter, Paul and Mary,’ Peter has traveled the globe performing songs of social justice and compassion.  Peter is the writer of “Puff, The Magic Dragon,” and many other classic pieces of American music, and as a member of the renowned musical trio he has earned many gold and platinum albums, has been awarded numerous Grammys, and nominated for several more.

Nonviolent Activist

Along with Paul and Mary, Peter participated in the Civil Rights Movement, which brought them to Washington to sing for the historic march led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1963, as well as the equally historic Selma-Montgomery march in 1965.

He went on to produce and coordinate numerous events for the Peace/anti-Vietnam War movement, including festivals at Madison Square Garden and Shea Stadium. These efforts culminated in his co-organizing the 1969 Celebration of Life, a now-famous march on Washington, in which some half-million people participated.

Sisters is so lucky to welcome Peter to Winterfolk 20!  Click here to read more about Peter.
