Operation Cornbread - Keep the Cornbread Coming!

Please help us to keep the cornbread comin’ over the summer months with Operation Cornbread!  During June and July this special fund-raising drive will support the 300-400 meals we serve a day.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 that will be matched two-to-one by Operation Cornbread Matching Grants.  Every dollar you donate will become three!  The money we raise will support the work of Sisters throughout the summer months.

• Salsa, 2 Weeks $60
• Cornbread, 1 Week $100
• Spaghetti Day, 1 Day $135
• Coffee, 2 Weeks $250
• Fresh Fruit, 6 Weeks $525
• All Groceries, 1 Week $865

Why a Summer Fund Drive?

Sometimes folks feel too busy with vacations and family to donate during the summer.  It’s also easy to forget about homelessness when the people we pass on the streets are not shivering in the cold, or lonely at the holidays.

But even in the summer, homelessness hurts individuals and families. People are still hungry for a good low-cost meal, and are still searching for community, hygiene supplies, a clean restroom, a place to feel part of something positive and involved, and information about housing and other services.

Summer is also a time when children are out of school and need a safe place to go to eat and play with their parents. Seasonal workers, too, come to work in Portland’s agricultural fields and to do day labor, and need a safe welcoming place to enjoy a solid, low-cost meal. They need you!

Ways you can help:

• Become a Sustaining Member - our goal is to sign up 30 new Members during the months of June and July; click here to learn more. Any monthly amount you feel you can give can be automatically deducted from your credit card or checking account and will be a monthly contribution to Sisters.
