Anti-Oppressions Steering Committee

What is the Anti-Oppressions Steering Committee?

The Anti-Oppressions Steering Committee (or AOSC) is charged with supporting Sisters’ work to create a truly just, inclusive, and equitable community.  Committee members are cross-organizational: they work in the Cafe, in Development, and at the Administrative level. Committee members meet monthly to plan and coordinate all-staff trainings on oppressions such as ableism, racism, classism, sexism, and so on.  The AOSC also supports Sisters’ work to create policies and practices which address and transform oppressions within our organization.

We are excited to continue deepening out commitment to social justice through the formation of this committee. If you would like more information about the AOSC, or have any questions, please email the group at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

I’m on the committee because I’ve suffered from oppression and racism throughout my life.  I want to help work against that in this organization, and in the larger community. - Julio Vazquez
