Sisters is pleased to welcome Heather Fercho (pronounced ‘Fer-ko’) to the new position of Research Program Coordinator, a position funded by a $225,000, three-year grant through the Kaiser Permanente Community Fund at the Northwest Health Foundation.

Heather will:

• provide leadership to the Research Team
• develop and oversee the implementation of an outreach plan to ensure that Sisters’ research data is incorporated into public policy and social services at local, regional, and national levels
• oversee the development of putting Sisters’ research database online in an ethical, relevant and accessible way
• develop clear and compelling messaging regarding systemic uses of the research data and Voices from the Street
• facilitate the integration of Sisters’ research data into all Sisters’ programs, including community organizing campaigns; and other duties.

Heather brings with her 12 years of research experience, first as a student at WSU in the area of Eating Disorders prevention, and then as an employee at OHSU in the area of neurobehavioral toxicology.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Washington State University and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pacific University.

She enjoys helping others help themselves in her psychotherapy practice, loves riding her bike and spending time with loves ones.  She is attempting to attain enlightenment through meditation and finds solace in her Dharma Punx sangha.
