Meet Katie, our new systemic change organizer!

This week, we’ve been sharing the stories and backgrounds of our new team members, Nicki, JJ, and Katie! Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Katie, our systemic change organizer.

Katie brings both social work training and activist experience to her role at Sisters, where she supports the organization’s systemic change work. She has a long history with Sisters, completing two internships while earning her Master of Social Work from Portland State University. Each return deepened her connection to the mission of systemic change, and now, as a full-time staff member, that commitment continues to guide her.

Originally from Southern California, Katie moved to Portland in 2015 to study psychology as an undergraduate before shifting to social work for her graduate degree, drawn to its strengths-based approach to supporting individuals and communities.

At Sisters, Katie is eager to reconnect with longtime donors and supporters, strengthen community relationships, and create opportunities for collective action. As an organizer, she hopes to help people build confidence, positivity, and strength through coming together for change.
